HMUNLIPI VILLAGE

Hmunlipi is a village located in Thantlang Township, Chin State, Myanmar. It is situated approximately 40 miles from Hakha City. Hmunlipi Village was founded in AD 1828 by Pu Tu Lut, Pu Thang Theu, and Pu Mang Lal.

The village is bordered by eight neighboring villages: Sopum Village and Thlualam Village to the east; Vambai Village to the southeast; Sihhmuh Village to the northeast; Thau Village and Ruakhua Village to the west; Hriangkhan Village to the southwest; and Thangzang Village to the northwest. Hmunlipi is surrounded by numerous rivers, streams, and mountains that shape its natural landscape. Major rivers and streams include Burphaiva, Saingenva, Khuaitangva, Voihphenva, Sakahva, Milukuava, Pakhawngkhuaiva, Lazikva, Biava, Tuukhanva, Ralpiva, Ralteva, Lungmiliva, Zurva, Thauva, La-Aw Va, and Tidaiva. Notable mountains include Thaitlang, Khuaitlang, Aithurtlang, Kehtheikhantlang, Lungpuktlang, Tlahvatlang, Khuangthlilithaunak Tlang, Puaknaktlang, and Sakahnak Tlang.

The first missionary worker in Hmunlipi Village was Rev. Sang Heih. There are two churches serving the village community:

  1. Baptist Church

  2. Church of Jesus Christ

The full-time pastors who have served in Hmunlipi Village include Rev. Sang Heih, Rev. Mang Dum, Rev. Chan Hlun, Rev. Daniel, and Rev. Khamh Thang.

Hmunlipi Village has a middle school. The villagers primarily earn their livelihood through farming and shifting cultivation. Currently, Hmunlipi Village has 156 households, with an estimated population of about 752.
