BUNZUNG
Bungzung is a village located in the eastern part of Senthang District, Hakha Township, Chin State, Myanmar. It is situated 65 miles from Hakha at an elevation of approximately 1,015 meters above sea level.
Bungzung was founded in AD 1946 by the following individuals from Khuapi Village: Pu Lawng Tu, Pu Tial Sang, Pu That Er, and Pu Khen Hniar. Although Pu Lawng Tu was originally from Sakta Village, his wife was from Khuapi, and thus the settlement was established as an offshoot of Khuapi Village.
The name “Bungzung” originated from the nearby Bangla. Since the Burmese people did not know how to name it, they began calling the place “Bungzung,” and the name has remained ever since. The village lies along the main highway between Gangaw and Hakha.
