Leium (A)
Leium (A) is a village located in the Senthang District of Hakha Township, Chin State. It is situated 42 miles from Hakha. The village was founded 78 years ago, in AD 1947, by several clans and families who migrated from Cangva village. The founders included Pu Hreh Lo (Kawipathlak), Pu Khen Uk (Tinthei), Pu Doi Phung (Vanhlung), Pu Mang Ling (Kawipathlak), Pu Duh Veng (Innhmai), and Pu Er Kio (Innhmai).
Leium (A) is part of the eastern Senthang District, within the Cangva village block. Other villages in the Cangva block are Cangva village, Bungzung village, Leium (B) village, Keizuan village, Tilak village, and Chawncum village.
Leium (B) village, Bungzung village, and Gangaw city in the Magwe region border Leium (A) on the western side. To the east of Leium (A) are Cangva village, Lungtar village, and Surkhua city. The Riva River flows through Leium (A) village, originating from Sakta village, and is rich in various fish species. The villagers earn their living mainly from the river and farming.
There is a middle school in the village.
Leium (A) has five churches representing different denominations: Baptist Church, Roman Catholic Church, Reformed Evangelical Church, Believer Church, and Bethlehem Church. The current pastors include Sayama Ni Hlei Sung (Baptist Church), Saya Lal Ceu (Reformed Evangelical Church), and Saya Ram Cung (Believer Church).
Many villagers from Leium (A) have fled to third countries, including the United States and Malaysia, due to ongoing challenges.
Leium (A) village has 68 households with a population of about 270 inhabitants.
