Rapel is a village located in Thantlang Township, Chin State, Myanmar. It is situated approximately 65 miles from Hakha City and stands at an estimated elevation of 526 feet above sea level. The village was founded in 1893 by Pu Than Hlir (Tlanglian), Pu Tum Thul (Anglian), Pu Ne Neng (Mualcin), Pu Kam Tu (Famcun), and Pu Tai Ung (Aineh).

Neighboring Villages

Rapel is bordered by several neighboring villages:

  • East: Zangtlang Village
  • West: Thingsai and Hngarchip Villages (along the Mizoram border)
  • North: Lungler Village
  • South: Dawn Village

Rapel is surrounded by numerous streams and rivers.

Southern Area

  • Zovapi, Vosihva, Tluangnalva, Dumvapi, Pualbungva

Central Area

  • Taitiva, Raciahva

Northern Area

  • Bengkawkva, Siatlakva, Rengva, Tingzaman

Northwest Area

  • Zuangpiti, Sangal lo ti, Thinglubulhawr, Zuksih

Western Area

  • Tio River, Rawlsiamva

Southwest Area

  • Dumvate, Mautliar

Mountains

The village is also surrounded by many mountains:

  • East: Hriangcherpitlang
  • Northeast: Archuangtlang, Lungtlang, Thetsetbo, Nawlluailungtlang
  • Southeast: Vaikhampa Vomsehnaktlang, Pharhkhamtlang, Tlangtahnak, Ketuknaktlang
  • West: Sakuhrembo, Vaca Lambo
  • Southwest: Lungtlengtler, Thingzamantlang, Vavumualtlang
  • Northwest: Saihenglobotlang
  • North: Cheltlang
  • South: Haidaitlang

Religion and Churches

The first missionary worker in Rapel Village was Pi Leng Thang Pui (Pi Cawk).

There are three churches in the village:

  • Rapel Baptist Church (RBC)
  • Evangelical Free Church of Myanmar (EFCM)
  • Presbyterian Church of Myanmar (PCM)

Education and Population

There is a Middle School in the village.

The villagers primarily earn their livelihood through farming and shifting cultivation.

Rapel Village has approximately 148 households with a total population of about 617 inhabitants, including:

  • 295 males
  • 322 females
