FUNGKAH VILLAGE

Fungkah is a village located in Zahnak Tlang Block, Thantlang Township, Chin State, Myanmar. It is situated approximately 60 miles from Hakha and 28 miles from Thantlang, with an estimated elevation of 4,540 feet above sea level. Fungkah Village was founded in AD 1860 by Pu Mang Kham.

The village is bordered by five neighboring villages: Thangzang Village to the east; Bungkhua and Saikah Villages to the west; Lungler Village to the northwest; and Ruakhua Village to the southwest.

Fungkah is surrounded by several mountains and streams, enhancing its natural landscape. Notable mountains include Cingriltlang to the northeast and Laithingtlang to the west. Major streams include Ngalva Stream to the east, Khualtuva Stream to the south, and Caamva Stream to the west.

The first missionary worker in Fungkah Village was Dr. U. Strait, and the first pastor was Rev. Hram Cung. There are three churches in the village:

  1. Baptist Church – Senior Pastor: Rev. Hram Cung

  2. Believer Church – Full-time Pastor: Rev. Bawi Hu

  3. Church on the Rock – Senior Pastor: Pastor Mang Chin Lian

Fungkah Village has a high school that serves approximately 220 students. The villagers primarily earn their livelihood through farming and shifting cultivation. Fungkah Village has 159 households and an estimated population of about 750 inhabitants.
