PANGVA VILLAGE

Pangva is a village located in the western part of Senthang District, Hakha Township, Chin State, Myanmar. It is situated approximately 110 miles from Hakha City and lies at an estimated elevation of 4,000 meters above sea level. Pangva Village was founded in AD 1725 by Pu Khen Sang.

The village is bordered by four neighboring villages: Dumva Village to the east, Nabung Village to the north, Lawngva Village, and Surkhua Village to the west. Pangva is surrounded by several mountains and waterways that shape its natural landscape. Notable mountains include Aungsasai Mount to the east and Lungkaku Mount and Ngaingenpa Mount to the west. Major rivers and streams include the Vapiva Stream and the Pomva Stream to the east, and the Letva River to the north.

Pangva Village has a primary school and a middle school operating under the National Unity Government (NUG). The first missionary worker in Pangva Village was Rev. Chan Let from Surkhua City. The first villagers to convert to Christianity were Pu Dar Hrang, Pu Thaw Pen, and Pu Tawng Buu.

There are three churches serving the village community:

  1. Baptist Church – Full-time Pastor: Pastor Ba Shwe

  2. Assembly of God Church – Full-time Pastor: Pastor Pa Biak

  3. Roman Catholic Church – Pastor: Pastor Bong Kheng

The villagers primarily earn their livelihood through farming and shifting cultivation. Pangva Village has 48 households and an estimated population of about 217
