TIPHUL VILLAGE

Tiphul is a village located in the western part of Hakha Township, Mi-E District, Chin State, Myanmar. The village is situated approximately 15 miles from Hakha City and lies at an elevation of about 6,046 feet above sea level. Tiphul was founded around AD 1500 by Bawm Zo.

Tiphul is bordered by nine neighboring villages. To the east are Rimpi, Rimte, and Hranhring villages. Chuncung and Hairawn villages lie to the west. Hakha City and Hniarlawn village are located to the north, while Mangkheng and Tiphir villages are to the south. Several streams flow through the village, including Phauva, Pialsenva, Thawrpukva, Hmunsangva, and Tiphul Rawnva, mainly in the southern part of the village. The surrounding mountains include Cuanzamtlang and Thangvelsamhriatnaktlang to the east, and Kawllangtlang, Inchaktlang, and Muipifingtlang to the west.

The first missionary worker in Tiphul village was Sayakyi That Rem. There are three Christian denominations in the village: Baptist, Assembly of God, and Roman Catholic. Currently, Rev. Nawl Bik serves the Lord as a full-time pastor at Tiphul Baptist Church. The Assembly of God Church does not have a pastor at present, while Saya Thla Cung leads the Roman Catholic Church in the village.

Tiphul village has one middle school, which serves approximately 140 students and employs 10 teachers. The primary livelihood of the villagers is farming and shifting cultivation. The village consists of 138 households with a total population of about 527 people. In addition, there is an IDP camp in Tiphul village with 30 households and approximately 75 inhabitants.
